Today we stood strong for union jobs at @MFinancialGroup in Portland's Pearl District. Union janitors were given the boot by @jpmorgan@Chase richest bank in the US—and replaced by a nonunion company with a high rate of work injuries and poor wages. Portlanders are calling on owner JP Morgan Chase to do the right thing and make sure a union janitorial company cleans the building. #JusticeforJanitors
A big thanks to our partners in solidarity today! @JwJpdx & @ILWULocal5
#CCPUCalifornia is excited to voluntarily recognize our staff union and become a unionized employer!
Just as we believe that the providers we represent should have a collective voice on the job to lift up their workforce, we believe all staff we employ should too.
Please join us in welcoming the workers of Child Care Providers United (@CCPUCalifornia) to ILWU Local 5, and congratulate them on their voluntary recognition! Read our joint press release here: https://t.co/AhDPzBY57c 2/2
“Through our work at CCPU we have witnessed the power of advocacy in the lives of the providers we serve which has highlighted to us the importance of organizing our own labor. In order to best support members, it is important for us to also organize & advocate for ourselves." 1/
“The deployment of the National Guard in the streets of Los Angeles by the Trump Administration is a dangerous provocation by the federal government that escalates the conflict and endangers lives. The ILWU stands in opposition to this abuse of power."
On April 24, the ILWU International Executive Board unanimously passed a Statement of Policy in Support of the Rights of all Workers to Collectively Bargain.
