I divorced my husband after 12 years of marriage.

He's remarried now, and suddenly he's insisting that I drop his last name.

Easy for him to say.

I've spent more than a decade building a life with that name.

It's on my degrees.

It's on my professional credentials.

It's on work records, bank documents, and enough paperwork to fill a small filing cabinet.

Now he's acting like I can just wake up tomorrow, snap my fingers, and change everything.

Sir, changing a last name after 12 years is not the same as updating a social media profile.

It's forms.

It's fees.

It's appointments.

It's explaining to every institution I've dealt with why my records suddenly don't match.

What makes this even more frustrating is that I wasn't the one who brought it up.

He's the one who remarried.

He's the one who moved on.

Yet somehow I'm the person being assigned a mountain of administrative work.

At this point, I don't even know where to.........
