Genesis 3:15

Scripture
“I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and her offspring;
he shall bruise your head,
and you shall bruise his heel.”

Context & Significance
Spoken by God after the fall, this is the first promise of redemption. Evil will not win. A future descendant of the woman will ultimately defeat the serpent.
Why it matters for the birth: From the very beginning, salvation requires a birth. Christmas is the start of God keeping this promise.
