ব্যারাকপুরের মনিরামপুরে বেআইনি নির্মাণের প্রতিবাদ করাই অপরাধ হয়ে দাঁড়াল। প্রতিবাদ করায় ৮১ বছরের বৃদ্ধা তুলসী অধিকারিকে লাথি মারার অভিযোগ উঠেছে তৃ��মূল কাউন্সিলর ও আইনজীবী রবীন্দ্রনাথ ভট্টাচার্যের বিরুদ্ধে। তাঁর ছেলেকে নির্মমভাবে মারধর করা হয়, হাসপাতালে নিয়ে গেলে মৃত্যু হয় বৃদ্ধের। আজ সেই অভিযুক্তই উত্তর ব্যারাকপুর পৌরসভার ২৩ নম্বর ওয়ার্ডের তৃণমূল কাউন্সিলর—এই কি “আইনের শাসন?
অন্যদিকে, রানাঘাট থানার নিকারী এলাকায় তৃণমূল নেতাদের হুমকিতে বাড়ি ছেড়ে রাজ্য ছাড়তে বাধ্য হলেন এক বৃদ্ধ দম্পতি। বাড়ি দখলের জন্য প্রাক্তন অঞ��চল যুব সভাপতি দীপঙ্কর মোদক ও মধু বিশ্বাস দীর্ঘদিন ধরে ভয় দেখিয়েছে—“কাউকে বললে গুলি করে মেরে দেবো।” একাধিকবার পুলিশের দ্বারস্থ হয়েও কোনো সুরাহা মেলেনি। আতঙ্কে নামমাত্র দামে বাড়ি বিক্রি করে আজ তারা ভূপালে আশ্রিত।
প্রশ্ন একটাই—পুলিশ কার? আইন কাদের জন্য?
বৃদ্ধ, নারী, সাধারণ মানুষ—কারোরই নিরাপত্তা নেই তৃণমূলের রাজ্যে। ক্ষমতার জোরে বেআইনি নির্মাণ, জমি দখল, হুমকি, খুন—সবই যেন স্বাভাবিক।

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ কি এভাবেই চলবে?
আমরা নীরব থাকব না।
অপরাধীর রাজনৈতিক পরিচয় নয়—শাস্তি চাই, ন্যায়বিচার চাই।

মহামান্য সুপ্রিম কোর্ট আজ স্পষ্ট করে জানিয়ে দিল—ডিএ কোনো অনুদান নয়, এটি রাজ্য সরকারি কর্মচারীদের আইনসিদ্ধ ন্যায্য অধিকার। এতদিন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় যে দাবি করে এসেছেন, আজ তা ভুল প্রমাণিত হল।

At around 7:45 pm, I was done singing 7 songs and I was going to start with my 8th one in the list... This 7th song is called 'Jago Maa' from the movie 'Devi Choudhurani', which was released during this Pujo. While I was interacting with the audience after this song, I suddenly saw one man from the audience charging towards the stage... He came very close to my face. The school that I was performing in, was recording my whole concert, which is very normal, as every organiser does it. But I don't have access to that video recording because it belongs to the school. If somebody can access the video, if it comes out in public, then everybody can see that Mahboob Mallick charged towards the stage with the intention of hitting me. In plain words, he wanted to beat me up... While people rushed to save me and were pulling him away, he shouted, "Enough of Jago Maa, now sing something secular"... Bangla is a beautiful language with many words that can be used to refer to a person, but he called me 'tu', which I am not okay with. That's not part of our culture. We don't do that to an unknown person or a guest. It is used for very near and dear ones or is used as an abuse... I went to the Bhagwanpur Police Station after leaving from the show, and filed a GD... I have full faith in my police and administration, and I know such an incident will not happen again... I have another show in the coming days in the Arambagh area, and I am going to sing 'Jago Maa' as my 7th number. I know the police and administration will ensure that I sing Jago Maa and do not get beaten up for it, and I return home safe and sound..."
