“One incident does not define a country, and it doesn’t define solo female travel. Sri Lanka is an incredible country,” the tourist who had shared her experience of being sexually harassed by a Sri Lankan man during her visit to island has shared her reflections on the incident. She said that while she is thankful for Sri Lankan authorities for acting promptly, she is happy that the incident has started a conversation on women’s safety.
“Defining homosexuality as a way of life and misleading youths, sabotaging their ordinary way of life, including marriage, is a threat to the youths of our nation,” the Archbishop of Colombo said, warning that a group was working with foreign organizations to promote homosexuality within Sri Lanka.
