저는 PUBG를 삭제했습니다.

거창한 일이 있었기 때문이 아닙니다. 아주 사소한 사건 하나를 통해 PUBG 한국 커뮤니티의 일부 사람들과 관련 스트리머들이 베트남인을 어떻게 대하는지를 보여주었기 때문입니다.

베트남인을 모욕하는 것만으로도 이미 용납할 수 없는 일입니다. 베트남 여성들을 모욕하는 것은 더욱 받아들일 수 없습니다. 그런데 더 경멸스러운 것은 일부 사람들이 베트남과 한국의 역사에서 어두운 부분까지 일부러 들춰내 베트남인을 조롱하고 모욕하려 했다는 것입니다. 정작 자신들의 역사에도 자랑스럽다고만 할 수 없는 부분들이 분명히 존재하는데 말입니다.

한국인이 베트남에 관광을 오든, 일을 하러 오든, 사업을 하러 오든, 혹은 베트남에서 생활을 하든 베트남 사람들은 여전히 친절과 존중으로 그들을 환영합니다.

하지만 그러한 친절이 누구에게든 베트남에 와서 우월주의적인 태도를 보이고 베트남인을, 특히 베트남 여성들을 모욕할 수 있는 면허가 되는 것은 아닙니다.

역사는 한 민족이 자신에게 유리한 부분만 골라서 이야기하고 그것�� 자랑거리로 삼기 위한 도구가 아닙니다. 역사를 이야기하고 싶다면, 자신의 역사 전체를 정면으로 바라볼 용기부터 가져야 합니다.

저는 한국인 전체를 이러한 행동과 동일시하지 않습니다. 제가 경멸하는 것은 베트남인을 모욕해 놓고도 자신들이 다른 사람들보다 위에 설 권리가 있다고 생각하는 일부 개인들의 태도입니다.

그리고 PUBG에 대해서도 마찬가지입니다. 저를 모욕당한 것처럼 느끼게 만드는 커뮤니티를 가진 게임을 계속해서 이용할 필요는 없습니다.

게임을 삭제하는 것은 아주 간단합니다.

하지만 자신의 자존심과 존엄을 지키는 것이야말로 더 중요한 일입니다.
