We had no issues projecting Dark Knight’s IMAX sequences on 35mm. They just cropped to scope.
Today, desqueezing at the projector is antiquated and rare. Not to mention Odyssey is spherical.
There’s no technical challenge projecting a 1.43 IMAX image out of any cinema projector. There’s resolution standards that IMAX has (CoLa VS dual laser) but just like you’re watching the 1.43 at home, you can do that anywhere.
@JohnHPiette@metaplexmovies scope is widescreen - we're talking about the 1.43.
that said, a lot of people want 1.43 releases at home, particularly on the 4K discs.
thats kind of the total opposite of what i've experienced/heard, the only venice 2 mainstream film i thought looked nice was top gun maverick. almost everything else i can immediately tell it's venice.
Jeremy shot backrooms on venice 2 and said they had really give it life in the grade.
@flodyssey only thing with SONY is many people (myself included) fine the image a bit thin, or lacking richness out of the gate.
i shoot sony, you just need to know what you're doing in the grade to give it some more life. The Arri is a lot easier to work with color/dynamic range wise.
@MovieSumit bushnell bone collector. it's for hunting to measure distance. he probably uses it like a director's viewfinder to help decided lensing/blocking.
