I have shared in AnkiWeb two small beginner Japanese decks that I made years ago that helped me immensely when I was having trouble with certain kana.

They are simple decks that group all possible combinations of hiragana and katakana that kind of look alike and test the user on their readings. Drilling these daily will help beginners train their brain so that they can unconsciously distinguish such kana.
