Today we’re in sunny Leeds for our quarterly meeting.
First we shared updates from the past three months - lots of exciting work happening!
And now we have Dr Daan Arroo from @ImpMaser giving us a deep on masers.
It’s always great to get together!
We had a great time talking about how atomic-scale control over materials can be used to create new technologies including room-temperature masers and antimicrobial surfaces at #ExRdFest. Looking forward to more conversations tomorrow! @NameProgramme@ImpMaterials
Our Maser group from @ImpMaterials has demonstrated the Pentacene Maser at the Quantum Day celebration event , in collaboration with @LondonNanotech at @imperialcollege , representing the Spin-Lab bench.
Our researchers talked to the public and we had an amazing time.
📣 New paper out 📣 MASERs, the microwave analogue to LASERs, are no longer confined to the lab, but now portable "shoe-box" size as the group @ImpMaser, as part of the NAME group, have shown in their new publication

Our researchers from @ImpMaterials and @NameProgramme have demonstrated how masers can be used for space communication at #ImperialLates . 🛰️🚀
We had a great time talking to the public
at this amazing festive event @imperialcollege .
TODAY! Explore the wonders of the cosmos at #ImperialLates Space! 🚀
Our researchers will demonstrate how masers can be used for space communication at this festive evening of discovery @imperialcollege. Come and say hello!

The Michael Faraday Medal & Prize, as part of the #IOPAwards23 Gold Medals & Prizes, has been won by Prof Neil Alford, Prof Enrico Salvadori, Dr Juna Sathian, Prof Chris Kay, Dr Jonathan Breeze & Prof Mark Oxborrow for their discovery of the world’s first room-temperature maser👏
Delighted to be part of the QuEST (@QuantumImperial) launch earlier this week.
When it comes to the UK's quantum journey, universities are set to play such an integral role. Truly such an exciting time!

" Interesting discussions with researchers, business leaders and policymakers about our portable pentacene maser at the @QuantumImperial launch event."
Our team is building better state-of-the-art maser devices to for use as ultra-noise amplifiers and quantum sensors. In this picture, there are researchers tackling materials development, resonator design and methods of eliminating noise.

We had a great time talking to the public about masers and nanoscale engineering over the weekend at the Great Exhibition Road Festival 2023! Here our amazing postdoc, Dr. Wern Ng with the portable Maser he constructed for public demonstrations!
Curious about what we do? We have produced this short film to explain our work, how we're developing new advanced materials, and our impact across the UK! @EPSRC@imperialcollege@OfficialUoM@UniversityLeeds
Oooooo what is that I hear you ask? Well come along to the @NameProgramme stand at @ExRdFestival this weekend to find out more about our new materials and how we use them- for example to make coherent electromagnetic waves and why we would want to!
"The discovery of this ultra-fast maser could allow masers to provide their amplification at nanosecond speeds"
Researchers have found a new material that creates the fastest room-temperature maser ⚡
