@autismadhdmicro 💯 This. After years of struggling with this I finally managed to get the school on board with flexibility. We built in half day on Wed every week. They come home and complete those lessons at home. So much easier than picking up the pieces after burn out. Keep up being awesome!
@matt_fallaize @IMBurns @YvonneBurford@steve_falla However as I recall the rules regarding what could constitute a party promotion of candidates is quite broad so bodies can’t just promote candidates. At least at the last election that was what I was told by several 3rd sector orgs who felt the rules were prohibitive.
It’s a flaw in the system if the public aren’t able to discern between the successful electioneerers and actual positive policy agendas that can be progressed.
They’re doing it because it works. It worked for them last time and sadly they aren’t held to account for their failure to actually do anything positive once elected.
@oldfarmhorace @matt_fallaize If we need jeopardy to keep people on their toes then that doesn’t make for a good system. Keeping people in constant fight or flight isn’t a healthy or sustainable way of running things.
@autismadhdmicro I so empathise with this. It has gotten easier now that they’re older but they still start to get anxious at the beginning of term. Hope H gets a cool start to term this time. 🤗
@heymartineellis I’ve been on threads now, just occasionally checking in here. From the look on there there was a mass exodus from Twitter when the Musk got musky with democracy.
@mitchell_di We have a different system in Gsy so comparisons to the UK are not as helpful as you think. The point is electioneering in 2020 by this ESC falsely accused the 2SM of increasing class sizes but they have done so twice in this term. The effect is being felt by student now.
Interesting to see a row brewing over class sizes in the UK election, but class sizes went up twice under this ESC committee and no-one’s batted an eye. Will the public notice before our 2025 election?
@PeterRoffey5 I agree cost shouldn’t be an issue. It isn’t democracy if there are votes that could hinge on one or two votes taking place while those vacancies aren’t filled. The problem isn’t the cost of the bi-election it’s the cost of the actual election. It need to be reformed.
