Brahms loved beer. His Academic Festival Overture is, in his own words, a “very boisterous potpourri of student drinking songs.” Cheers to you and to Friday, Johannes Brahms! 🍻

The most profound #cello work to, finally, emerge in recent years, Preludes op. 100 were written for #Rostropovich as composer turned 50 and are akin to extremely vivid contrasting paintings displaying myriad of writing techniques, folk music elements, collage, etc. #Weinberg100

Weinberg: Symphonies 2 & 21
Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, @TheCBSO @KremerataBaltic @GidonKremer

Weinberg's last symphony is a desolate, fragmented vision of a musical life and a people's tragic history. Not easy listening. Essential listening.
