I’ve known Pierre Poilievre since 2004. He has always been direct, disciplined and willing to say what many politicians are afraid to say.

The MSM spends too much time worrying about Pierre’s tone and too little time examining Mark Carney’s record. Canadians aren’t struggling because Pierre speaks bluntly. They’re struggling because government has made housing, food, energy and nearly everything else more expensive while investment and productivity continue to suffer.

Carney benefits from polished language, friendly media coverage and the assumption that credentials equal competence. Pierre is judged by a different standard. Every phrase is dissected while Liberal failures are explained away.

Could the Conservatives present a stronger public team? Certainly. But Pierre remains the clearest and most credible alternative to another Liberal government.

He understands incentives, supports work and enterprise, and recognizes that government cannot tax, regulate and borrow a country into prosperity.

Canada doesn’t need another polished manager of decline. It needs a leader prepared to change direction.

People keep asking how I manage to write so much.

The answer isn’t complicated. I’m mostly retired, and I often wake naturally at two, three or four in the morning. I’ve always written. While much of the world is still asleep, I’m usually reading, thinking or putting words on a page.

I also spend about an hour every day taking courses. I’ve been doing that for decades. Learning gives me ideas. Writing helps me test them.

Farming taught me discipline. Business taught me incentives. Municipal government taught me budgets and human nature. My studies in economics, psychology, philosophy, history, science and literature give me different ways to look at the same problem.

My daughters tell me what I do isn’t ordinary. I still think of myself as ordinary. I’m just Wayne.

Maybe both are true.

None of it feels exceptional to me because it has always been my normal. I never made a grand decision to become a lifelong learner. I just never decided I was finished learning.
