She spends 24 hours a day in isolation, except for 30 minutes with me per week - and even that is often ignored. It is unislamic to harm women, children and the elderly - and their motives are plain and clear. The judges are responsible for the justice in a society. They should be ashamed of themselves.”

سوال: مگر سن انیس سو تہتر کے آئین میں ترمیم کے لیے تو دو تہائی اکثریت درکار ہے؟
ضیا الحق: مجھے بطور چیف مارشل لا ایڈمنسٹریٹر سپریم کور�� نے نظریہِ ضرورت کے تحت آئین میں ترمیم کا اختیار دے رکھا ہے۔

سوال: آپ ایسا کیوں کرنا چاہتے ہیں، کیا آئین غیر اسلامی ہے؟
ضیا الحق: اگر آپ تنقیدی گہرائی سے دیکھیں تو خود آئین سازی کا عمل بھی اسلامی نہیں، البتہ مسلح افواج کا کردار غیر اسلامی نہیں ہو سکتا کیونکہ فوج تو ملک و قوم کی سلامتی کی ضامن ہے۔ ایسا نہیں کہ جرنیل قومی اسمبلی میں بیٹھیں۔ آئیڈیا یہ ہے کہ اہم معاملات پر فوجی قیادت سے مشاورت کے بعد صدر جو فیصلہ کرے اس پر عمل ہو، اور ایسا میں آئندہ ہوتے ہوئے دیکھ رہا ہوں۔

سوال: کیا اس تصور (فوج کے آئینی کردار) کی اسلامی نظریہِ جمہوریت سے کوئی مطابقت ہے؟
ضیا الحق: ہما��ا موجودہ نظام بھی خالص اسلامی نہیں۔ یہ ایک طرح کی کھچڑی ہے اور یہ اسی طرح رہے گا۔
