In 2005, on this day, our Congress-UPA Govt enacted Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) to ensure ‘Right to Work’ to crores of people in rural India.

Presently, there are 13.3 Cr active workers who depend on MGNREGA, despite low wages, abysmal work-days, facing deletion of job cards.

🔽In the guise of using technology and AADHAAR, the Modi Govt has deleted over 7 crore workers job cards, cutting these households off from MGNREGA work.

🔽This year’s Budget allocation for MGNREGA is just 1.78% of the total budgetary allocation, which marks a 10-year low in the scheme’s funding.

🔽The lower allocation by Modi Govt contributes in artificially suppressing the demand for work under the scheme. The Economic Survey, has already laid the groundwork to justify the low allocation, by claiming that MGNREGA demand does not necessarily correlate with rural distress.

🔽Recent Parliamentary Standing Committee report has said that the daily wages paid under the MGNREGA are inadequate. For instance, since 2014, the daily wage rate for Uttar Pradesh has increased just 4% per year, when inflation has been much higher than that. Today a labourer earns on an average a mere ₹213/day. The Congress is committed to provide ₹400/day as National Minimum Wage.

🔽Even though Rural Inflation is higher than Urban Inflation for 13 straight months, Modi Govt’s rank apathy towards rural poor continues!

The present state of MGNREGA is a LIVING MONUMENT of PM Modi’s betrayal to rural India!

फ़िल्म "दी केरला स्टोरी" स्टोरी के आधार पर दावा किया गया की तीस हजार हिंदू/ईसाई लड़कियों को इस्लाम में धर्मांतरित करवा कर आतंकवादी संगठनों में भेजा गया। #RTI से जब मैनें इस संदर्भ में जानकारी मांगी तो जवाब आया देश के गृहमंत्रालय के पास ऐसा कोई आंकड़ा उपलब्ध नहीं है,इन���फॉर्मेशन NIL है।कर्नाटक चुनाव में देश के प्रधानमंत्री और गृहमंत्री तक ने इस फ़िल्म के आधार पर ध्रुवीकरण और नफरत फैलाने में कोई कसर नहीं छोड़ी थी पर 10 ₹ के #RTI ने एक बार फिर से इनकी पोल खोल दी है।

This is Shweta Sanjiv Bhatt,

It is now 4 years, 8 months and 8 days since Sanjiv has been languishing in jail for a crime he did not commit.

Following the same Modus Operandi, in yet another gross travesty of justice, Sanjiv was once again stripped off of his basic legal and constitutional right to defend himself.

While on one hand, Supreme Court Justice, M.R. Shah, right before his retirement dismissed our application to submit Evidence in court; on the other hand, the High Court of Gujarat dismissed our petition to call Defence Witnesses!

Where does one turn to when the very institutions established to dispatch justice, start acting as a tool to ensure justice is never delivered.

The right to a fair and free trial, the right to defend one's self fully, are the basic constitutional, legal and human rights of any individual; however, in Modi's "New India", these rights are not afforded to the honest and upright.

The subversion of the judiciary to silence Sanjiv Bhatt at any and every cost only further proves the undismissable threat Sanjiv's truth poses to this fascist and authoritarian regime.

They may continue to subvert the system by fear and greed; we will continue to fight for justice with truth and dignity.
