Breaking: Michael Burry says the AI boom is running on one giant loop and time is running out

Here's his breakdown:

1. Burry shared a report from Wall Street lender Ares tracking $573B of AI financing from the last 12 months

2. All of it runs through just 8 companies: Meta, Oracle, Microsoft, Amazon, OpenAI, Anthropic, Broadcom and Nvidia

3. They lend to each other, guarantee each other's debt and buy from each other, so one company's loan is backed by another company's promise to keep spending

4. Every deal depends on one thing: AI spending never slowing down

5. If AI revenue disappoints for even one season, the guarantees could all get called at once, right when the companies backing them are at their weakest

6. Burry says it's the same circular financing that turned the 2000 telecom fiber boom into a bust

Burry claims the stock market in the first stage of grief and the crash is soon

This is what a supply shortage looks like:

Apple needs the chips.
Micron has the chips.
Micron sets the price.

Micron’s net income has surged 42x in just 2 years to $38 billion - $8 billion MORE than Apple earned last quarter.

We've never seen pricing power like this.

There are two very different markets right now.

AI-related stocks are booming.

Meanwhile, credit spreads for the weakest US companies have blown out to 12.15%, their widest level in nearly 4 years.

Risk is rising beneath the surface.

The problem is NOT that the Indian market is down 20%. I’ll happily take -33% or -50% crash. The problem is NOT that the Indian market has been struggling since 2024, problem is that Indian markets struggling while almost all other major global markets are moving up and running.

Bull markets have lasted 5x longer than bear markets on average.

Bulls: +254% over 5 years🐂
Bears: -31% over 1 year🐻

Markets spend far more time growing wealth than destroying it. Why interrupting compounding is the biggest risk of all.
