The 1968 STP Oil Treatment Lotus 56 can be seen in the fourth garage of The Heritage Group Gasoline Alley Gallery. The turbine-powered car, driven by Art Pollard, suffered a fuel pump shaft failure with just nine laps remaining in that year's Indianapolis 500.

The BC39 USAC midget feature race is tonight! Will Cannon McIntosh defend his BC39 victories from 2024 and 2025 to become the first three-time winner of the event? His 2024 suit, helmet, and trophy are currently on display in the Museum's Mezzanine.

"Jeff Gordon" is now open! The new exhibition features 13 cars spanning every era of his career, never-before-displayed artifacts, and an art installation with more than 70 helmets. Open now through February 2027.

NEW EXHIBIT: “Jeff Gordon” opens this Wednesday, July 1–just in time for fans visiting for the Brickyard 400!

Spanning both Lower-Level rotating galleries, this exhibition explores Gordon’s racing timeline from quarter midgets, sprint cars, to his unparalleled stock car career.

In 2001, @JeffGordonWeb won his record-setting third #Brickyard400, the first time it was run on a Sunday. Starting 27th, it is still the farthest back a #NASCAR winner has ever started at IMS.

It will span both Lower Level rotating galleries, replacing “Now Stay Tuned” and “Setting the Pace”.

We are still finishing the installation of the full exhibit, but it will be open soon!

In the third garage of The Heritage Group Gasoline Alley Gallery, you'll find the 1955 Sumar Special. Driven by Jimmy Daywalt in the 39th Indianapolis 500, it was one of two streamlined-bodied cars entered and was built by Frank Kurtis for car owner Chapman S. Root.

The 1941 Bowes Seal Fast Special, driven by Rex Mays in the 29th Indianapolis 500, is on display in the second garage of The Heritage Group Gasoline Alley Gallery.

Mays started second and led the first 38 laps. He finished second, 1 minute 29 seconds behind winner Mauri Rose.
