Humans derive a lot of their emotional attachment through physical touch and taking that away is cruel and neglectful. I think that becoming essentially roommates is an awful fate that befalls a ton of relationships.

But your partner has physical and emotional needs that you promised to fulfill in exchange for exclusivity and love when you agreed to get together. You dont get to neglect that if you can help it.
