A tip for tele-presence for those who can’t make it to the conference site, I have added a section with authors’ LinkedIn QR codes inside the poster so people can virtually meet and connect with them. @InclusionInML
It's great to see that childcare is becoming a trend at conferences. #ICML2019 has childcare, paid for by sponsors. If you're looking to provide this benefit at your conf, ICML is using @KiddieCorp and we've heard good feedback. #DiversityandInclusion@InclusionInML
With #ICML2019 in full swing, a reminder that Barbara Engelhardt @BeEngelhardt and John Cunningham are Diversity & Inclusion Chairs. For thoughts, help, or to report a violation of the Code of Conduct, DM us here, email at [email protected], or What'sApp us at +15103338823
Please apply for Diversity & Inclusions fellowships for ICML 2019 in Long Beach in June! We would love to have the most diverse and inclusive ICML possible. Women and Underrepresented Minorities, broadly defined, are strongly encouraged to apply.
As D&I Chairs, we would like @icmlconf to be as diverse & inclusive as possible. To this end, we encourage the ML community to apply for D&I fellowships for ICML 2019 in Long Beach, CA in June. Applications close May 6th at midnight EST. Pls RT! #icml2019 https://t.co/LS4EChXzeR
@iddux @FertigLab Those help. For #1, we looked for a study of which countries are most welcoming with tourist visas, but can't find anything not specific to a single origin country.
#2 is necessary.
It's possible for large confs that some potential host countries'd be willing to work together.
We’ve got a long way to go, but this year’ #NeurIPS has felt more inclusive and self aware and has been my favorite yet. Kudos to @InclusionInML, @black_in_ai#QueerInAI@_LXAI@WiMLworkshop and all the fantastic workshops promoting fairness and social engagement.
Tip 17 #NeurIPS2018:
Now is a good time to write down all the research you learned about and researchers you met from the affinity group workshops or from outside your social network.
Cite their papers. Spread their work to your colleagues. Use their work as examples in class.

We believe that ALL participants play a role in making @NipsConference a respectful, inclusive & welcoming environment for everyone.
We'll be tweeting concrete action items you can do to help in this thread through the end of #nips2018.
(& please DM us with ideas we can share!)
Tip 16 #neurips2018:
Whether it's people you don't know, people who don't look like you, are from a different part of the world, or have different educational backgrounds. They do research. Ask about it. Introduce them to those you know & to join groups for coffee or meals.
At #neurips2018? Head across the street to the #QueerInAI#QAI workshop at the InterContinental Montreal, in the S. Bernhardt room!
