The Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Gujarat, Ahmedabad, organised the National Pledge Against Drug Abuse and awareness activities on 18thAugust, 2026, at the ‘Wall of Fame’, 2nd Floor, Aayakar Bhawan, Ashram Road, Ahmedabad, as part of the observance of the sixth anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA).
The pledge ceremony was led by Shri Amol Kamat, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS), Ahmedabad, in the presence of officers and officials of the Income Tax Department. Around 100 participants, including women and youth, participated in the programme and took the National Pledge Against Drug Abuse, reaffirming their commitment to preventing drug abuse and promoting a healthy and drug-free society.
The awareness activities undertaken on the occasion aimed at sensitising employees and stakeholders about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the adverse physical, psychological and social consequences associated with substance abuse. The programme also emphasised the importance of collective efforts in creating awareness and realising the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat.
The programme reflected the Department's commitment towards supporting the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, creating greater awareness and encouraging responsible participation in the movement against drug abuse.

The Annual Conclave of Pr. CCsIT/Pr. DsGIT organised by the Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Rajasthan, Jaipur, successfully concluded on 18th August 2026. The Conclave was chaired by Shri Ravi Agrawal, Chairman, CBDT and brought together Members of CBDT and all the Pr. CCsIT & Pr. DsGIT from across the country.
The Conclave witnessed extensive deliberations on key areas including e-HRMS, service matters, litigation, reservation in promotion policy, taxpayer services, future projects, Systems Directorate, capacity building, infrastructure, expenditure budget, TDS administration and inter-agency coordination. Senior officers shared their views and suggestions on emerging challenges and future priorities of the Department, while a documentary produced by the Media Cell, CBDT was also screened.
Shri Ravi Agrawal, Chairman, CBDT, held open and interactive discussions with senior officers on the future direction and functioning of the Department and emphasised the need for an actionable roadmap based on the deliberations and suggestions.
The Conclave concluded on a positive and forward-looking note, with a shared commitment to translating the deliberations into concrete action towards strengthening the Department and enhancing taxpayer services.

The Income Tax Department has launched a nationwide verification exercise into suspicious foreign remittances. The exercise follows data analysis and ground intelligence indicating significant overseas remittances by entities with little or no reported business activity.
The Department has emphasised the importance of exercising due diligence and sound judgment by professionals while issuing cerfiticates in Form 15CB/Form 146.

The 167th Income Tax Day was celebrated on 24 July 2026 at Aayakar Bhawan, Vejalpur, Ahmedabad, under the aegis of the Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Ahmedabad.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Shri Sushil Kumar Madhuk, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax-1, Ahmedabad, delivered the welcome address in the gracious presence of Shri Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax-2, Ahmedabad; Shri Sunil Kumar Singh, Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), Ahmedabad; Shri Amol Kamat, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS), Ahmedabad; along with other senior officers and officials of the Department.
The celebration reaffirmed the Income Tax Department's commitment to fostering trust with taxpayers and promoting voluntary tax compliance as a cornerstone of India's growth and development.

As part of the celebrations marking the 167th Income Tax Day, the Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Gujarat, Ahmedabad organized a Drawing Competition for children on 22ndJuly 2026.
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 70 children across different age groups, who showcased their creativity and artistic talent through vibrant and imaginative drawings. The young participants expressed their ideas on various themes, reflecting their imagination, artistic abilities, and appreciation of society, nature, and the nation.
The event encouraged children to express their creativity and artistic abilities while promoting a spirit of healthy competition and participation. The enthusiastic response and lively atmosphere made the competition a memorable experience for the children and their families.
