The British Government has paid for 1500 hijabs to be given to women and children crossing the channel a recent Freedom of Information request showed.

A Home Office spokesperson said it had a legal duty to provide basic clothing, including cultural and religious items, under the Short-term Holding Facility Rules:

'All arrivals receive a basic dry clothing pack where required. The items available form part of standard welfare arrangements.'

Masoud Suleman, 19, a Sudanese asylum seeker, has been jailed for 27 months after attacking and robbing a 15-year-old boy in Coventry. Suleman approached the teenager on Corporation Street at around 11.40pm, headbutted him and demanded his phone. When the boy resisted, Suleman pinned him against the gates of St John the Baptist Church, punched him twice in the back of the head and put him in a chokehold.

He stole the teenager’s AirPods and a £150 silver chain given to him by his grandfather before telling him: “Go.”

Police found Suleman shortly afterwards wearing a rolled-up balaclava, with the stolen chain inside his manbag. He initially denied the robbery and claimed the jewellery belonged to his cousin.

Suleman, originally from Sudan, moved to the UK around four years ago and already had four previous convictions for nine offences.

He had also previously been convicted of sexually assaulting two women after approaching them near Coventry Transport Museum in August 2025.

Suleman pleaded guilty to robbery and was jailed for 27 months at Warwick Crown Court on August 21.

🙄 The “King of the North” apparently had a really comfortable setup down south…

He reportedly claimed £16,644 in taxpayer funded expenses linked to buying and renovating his London flat, including stamp duty, legal fees and a new kitchen.

And according to reports the way the Dolphin Square payout was put through his parliamentary allowance also meant he avoided an estimated £6,665 capital gains tax bill.

Then after the expenses rules changed, he kept the flat, rented it out, while reportedly claiming around £17,000 a year from taxpayers to rent another London property nearby.

Imagine campaigning for rent freezes while collecting rent on a London flat and having taxpayers cover another one nearby. You genuinely couldn’t write the irony.
