This is mainly a labour-oriented industry, which gives India a significant advantage. Under the leadership of Prime Minister @narendramodi and Union Minister Piyush Goyal, India is moving towards FTAs with 38 countries. This could be a major benefit, as these countries together account for nearly 60% of the world’s population.
India also has strong and competitive raw material capabilities, while many other countries depend on imports. Another key advantage is that around 60% of these 38 countries do not have apparel manufacturing capabilities, which means they may increasingly source apparel from India.
