#WATCH | Delhi | On Narendra Modi being India’s longest continuously serving PM, JNU VC Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit says, "This development, especially for a non-Congress Prime Minister, is indeed revolutionary and pathbreaking. He has shown that not only is he a popular leader at winning elections, but he's also a great statesman who has brought in a lot of changes in foreign policy, in the way he has connected the Indian civilisation state and made every young person proud of India's past...He has tried to connect tradition with modernity and realm with region...He has also civilizationally connected us; he has got 693 of our antiquities back. Recently, the chola plates, which have also come back. He has taken a personal interest...I would also like to congratulate him on the Nari Shakti Bill, which, though Parliament didn't pass, he has shown the spine to make the Women's Bill a reality, which means a lot to women like me...The economy has done very well. Despite international events of which we have no control, he has been able to keep India in very good terms with both Iran as well as Israel in the present crisis, which is indeed a great, what to say, feat of diplomacy. Even with the United States and with Russia and China, he has balanced very well..."
India's central challenge as BRICS chair is not managing a single flashpoint but resolving the underlying tension between expansion and institutional coherency — across intra-bloc trade, the New Development Bank, and membership. @_vrindasahai_ https://t.co/hYNZc9nYtq
VIDEO | Final breakthrough achieved in Zojila Tunnel, the world's longest single tube bi-directional road tunnel at 11,500 feet. Addressing a press conference, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, says, "This tunnel is state-of-art. This tunnel has been constructed with world class safety standard, and it will provide all weather connectivity to Leh, Ladakh. I visited Ladakh when I was BJP president and people told me that everything remains closed for six months and there's connectivity. It pained me to see how the locals here are facing so many difficulties. Our government came to power in 2014 under the leadership of PM Modi and he gave highest priority to infrastructure development. I was handed over the responsibility of this department and then this project was initiated. The original tender of this project was Rs 12,000 crore and I am happy to announce that all the work related to this project has been completed in Rs 7,000 crore and we have saved at least Rs 5,000 crore. This is not just a tunnel but a lifeline."

Global military spending hit a record. The slowdown is a US story, not a global one
Global military spending hit $2.9 trillion in 2025, the highest ever recorded by SIPRI and the 11th consecutive year of increase. The world is not slowing down on defence budgets. Most of it is not the US.
That's all, according to a new annual report by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute

India is a rising power, but not in the make or model of China, writes @dmistree and @bill_drexel, and mischaracterizing the world's biggest democracy puts Washington at risk for squandering its most important relationship for countering Beijing. https://t.co/RWwvY2e0dh
37 years ago today, the Chinese government brutally crushed peaceful protesters in and around Tiananmen Square who were demanding an end to corruption, freedom of speech, and democratic reform. The massacre revealed a truth the world should never forget: the Chinese Communist Party will do whatever it takes to preserve its grip on power. If it did not value the lives of its own citizens, why would it value the lives of others?
