Saudi Arabia is planning a major military offensive against Yemen's Ansarullah to retake territory near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait that Ansarullah seized from Saudi-backed forces several weeks ago – Reuters

The operation could involve more than 100,000 Saudi-backed fighters in Yemen, supported by Saudi airstrikes. Saudi troops themselves will to take part directly.

Saudi Arabia's allies including the US are not expected to join the fighting directly. Pakistan and Türkiye are also not expected to take part in combat despite the Mecca Defense Pact.

Ansarullah could respond with ballistic missiles and drones targeting key facilities across Saudi Arabia.

Recent satellite imagery shows that Ansarullah has dug several kilometers of trenches around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, apparently preparing for future attacks.
