The poison of russian anti-Ukrainian propaganda is spreading through Poland. The activity of trolls - even in the comments under this post - shows that we are dealing with a massive disinformation campaign, and unfortunately, it is working.

This is not just a problem in Poland. It affects every country where russia actively wages information warfare. Estonia is no exception. Open almost any comment section under news about Ukrainians - especially in russian language - and you'll see the same pattern: open hatred. Hatred directed at people who became victims of an unjust war of aggression and simply want to survive. And it's not just trolls. Many of them are real people whose views have been shaped by years of russian propaganda.

None of them deserved this fate or this treatment. But every society has people whose hatred and resentment outweigh reason and common sense. Those are exactly the people russian propaganda targets. The Kremlin knows perfectly well which emotional buttons to push and which politicians to support in order to deepen divisions within society.

Today's information environment is no longer divided into "russian propaganda" and "the free world." Different actors have different agendas, but many exploit the same algorithms, the same emotions, and the same incentives. The result is the same: more polarization, less trust, and a society that becomes easier to manipulate.

The fact that many of the world's largest social media platforms are controlled by powerful American and Chinese companies has hardly helped. Their algorithms reward outrage, polarization, and conspiracy theories, creating an ideal environment for russian influence operations to thrive.
