@OginiSolomon Even in matches Messi does not score he does so many amazing things. CR7 is largely a glorified poacher whose overall game is incredibly limited. He should be compared to Gerd Muller and Van Bastan. Messi is at a different level to him, at least 3 notches higher.

@OginiSolomon he has never exceled in Euros and World Cup despite combined total of 12 appearances. Even in CL and international football, he has scored meaningless goals to pad his stat. His overall game is so average that he shouldn't even be considered in the top 10 players of all time.

@exfootballfan His 2006 World Cup campaign and his playing style puts him among the greatest players in the history of the game - for me eye test matters more than statistics. In his era nobody played football better than him (R9 and Ronaldinho the only ones comparable).

@aravind There is more art in Pandit Bhimsen Joshi's rendition of raagas like Shudh Kalyan, Puriya Dhanashree, Komal Rishabh Asavari, Yaman, Shankara, etc. than all the European art combined. It's just a shame that the world doesn't know much about Indian classical music.

@TweetinderKaul Agreed !! Also Gonazalez tracks back a lot to help out in defense. Tagliafico will need Gonzalez's help against Yamal. Besides Messi can ping in a few crosses to Gonazalez to get the ball into play in dangerous areas around Spain's box.

But sometimes whilst aptheosizing Maradona, people undersell Messi. Maradona a troubled genious and Messi a genius with incredible longevity and consistency.

@TweetinderKaul @NonsensicalNemo Even geniuses like Maradona and Messi need a good supporting cast. Napoli had a few very good players too.Barca has never won a CL since Messi left..and they won 4 with Messi - so one can argue Messi was a huge difference maker at Barca too something not many people appreciate.
