4/This is true with respect to the evolution of Aboriginal & Treaty Rights in Canada under the Charter. The justice and jurisprudence has shown in Canadian Courts that First Nation rights are also part of this Living Tree, that our rights continue to grow.

2/ a “living tree capable of growth & expansion within its natural limits.” As such, he asserted, it “is in a continuous process of evolution,” concluded that Canada required a “large & liberal interpretation” of the constitution to “meet the changing needs of Canadian society.”
Last night, @desrochersplc and I were in Chicoutimi—Le Fjord supporting Liberal candidate, @DanielGobeilPLC.
We spent the evening knocking on doors, meeting people across the community and hearing what matters most to them before sitting down for dinner with Daniel and his team.

The Carney Reich isn't collapsing anytime soon despite what some influencers say

We’re beyond grateful to our friends and partners in Mexico for sending hundreds of firefighters to B.C.
They’re joining a team of roughly 2,000 wildfire service personnel who are working tirelessly to get these fires under control.
“Canada since Mark Carney became Prime Minister in March, 2025, has outperformed everyone in America, the Eurozone and anywhere else in the world.” - Bloomberg Editor-In Chief, Matt Winkler
This is not just racist — it’s a lie.
Indigenous men & women helped build Alberta. Many went to war & died for Canada.
My grandfather, a residential school survivor, built a business, raised a family, and paid taxes his entire life.
Shame on anyone who defends this hate.
Excellent. All libraries in Canada should follow IBBY International Congress leadership on this important inclusion, including 2SLGBTQ+ books on local library shelves!
We are launching one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of 2SLGBTQI+ children’s picture books in the world at the IBBY International Congress this week in Ottawa.

Heard On The Hill: More names have been added to the various byelection ballots, a new book about Alberta Premier Smith is on its way, and former Conservative minister Lisa Raitt has some thoughts about the Toronto mayoral race.

This is incredibly heartbreaking. 230 homes are gone. One member only had time to grab their cat. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
The Okanagan Indian Band just suffered one of the worst wildfire losses in Canadian history — and it’s not the only First Nation that’s burned this summer.
This isn’t happenstance. It’s a warning.

A majority of Indigenous groups state that the federal govt should keep Trans Mountain Pipeline, 13% state to sell to Indigenous owners. Interesting to see polling firms engage Indigenous people on issues of national significance. Would like to see more zIndigenous voters engaged specifically and separately as Indigenous ppl continue to flex their growing Indigenous influence in voting interests.

Doubt Northern Saskatchewan, Northern Manitoba or Northwestern Quebec ridding will flip back. The demographics have changed, including how First Nation, Métis and Inuit districts voted in the last election.
Why would their constituents want to go back to the back benches or a party that can barely keep official party status when they all have Indigenous MPs in Cabinet. Nunavut is a bellwether riding with strong representation in Inuk MP @LoriIdlout!

Nikki Ashton is no longer a force for northern Manitoba. The individual poll results clearly show the shift to the Hon. Rebecca Chartrand, this will grow with the Indigenous growing at a faster rate than the general voting population in the riding.
This month, Albertans relying on disability supports are being told they're receiving the wrong benefit amounts because of "technical issues."
People living with disabilities are already being forced to survive in poverty. The grocery store doesn't accept "technical issues" as payment for food. Landlords don't accept "technical issues" for rent.
@ABDanielleSmith who is going to be held accountable for this? Unacceptable is an understatement.
