#IIWW2026 | Water Leader Forum 7 | River Basin Management.

Water Leader Forum 7 brought together Indian, European and international experts for a substantive discussion on River Basin Management, focusing on how basin-level planning can translate into coordinated, locally owned and financially implementable action.

The session was chaired by Mr Rajeev Kumar Mital, DG, NMCG, and co-chaired by Mr Gottfried von Gemmingen, Minister-Counsellor & Head of Economic Cooperation & Development Division, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, New Delhi.

The session featured Mr Julien Desmedt, Delegation of the European Union to India; Ms Fernanda van der Velde, Programme Advisor, India, Partners for Water, Netherlands Enterprise Agency; Dr Ranbir Singh, Chairman, Brahmaputra Board; Dr Laura Susteric, Project Director, Ganga Rejuvenation III and India-EU Water Initiative; Dr Kristiina Mardi, Project Manager, Aarhus Municipality, Denmark; and Dr Niladri Gupta, Regional Coordinator, Water and Wetlands, IUCN Asia. 12 Years of Make in India 🇮🇳

Launched in 2014, Make in India has been a key part of India’s manufacturing journey, encouraging investment, strengthening domestic production and expanding industrial capabilities.

Over the years, India has witnessed growth across sectors including electronics, automobiles, defence, pharmaceuticals, railways, telecom and semiconductors. Production-linked incentives have further supported manufacturing and investment, while Made-in-India products are increasingly reaching global markets.

Ambassador Kumar Tuhin @ktuhinv met Mr. Johannes Boonstra, Member of the Executive Board of Wetsus and discussed opportunities for strengthening 🇮🇳–🇳🇱 cooperation in water technology, research and innovation.

Mr. Boonstra also gave the Ambassador a tour of the laboratories at the Wetsus campus and highlighted the cutting-edge research being undertaken there. He noted the strong association of Indian researchers with Wetsus, with many Indian researchers currently working at or having previously conducted research at the institute.

The interaction explored possibilities for deeper institutional and research linkages between Wetsus and Indian partners in the water sector. 🇮🇳🤝🇳🇱 @MEAIndia @IndianDiplomacy @wetsus

Ambassador Kumar Tuhin @ktuhinv met H.E. Mr. A.A.M. Brok, King’s Commissioner of Fryslân @cdkfryslan, and discussed opportunities to further strengthen India–Friesland cooperation.

The interaction focused on expanding collaboration in areas such as water technology, agri-food, renewable energy, innovation and education, as well as fostering stronger business and institutional linkages between India and Fryslân.

A rejuvenating yoga session was organized on 18 September 2026 at the ICJ premises by the Embassy of India🧘‍♂️

The participants were briefed about the yoga classes and cultural activities conducted by the Gandhi Center - the cultural wing of the Embassy. The Yoga session was conducted under the guidance of the Centre's Yoga Instructor , who took the attendees through a series of asanas and breathing exercises.
