When Democrats are under fire for not standing up enough for Women, Black People, Immigrants etc., Republicans ALWAYS pretend they are the better option. But you'd be an absolute fool to believe them, as they prove, once they are in power.
@BookerGWash His statement is nearly identical to the justifications that left-wing governments used to strip Jews of their rights/property, and expel them in the lead up to the Holocaust.
@LewisJonathanE@abesilbe Ooh, if you have receipts on this I'd love to see them!
Would make for a great meme/response to all this current bullshit.
The demonization of AIPAC feels exactly like the right-wing demonization of ACORN, as a proxy for "Black People." Same vibes.
@magi_jay It's funny watching Progressives suddenly pretend they don't understand how dogwhistles and plausible-deniability perpetuate bigotry. As if they somehow slept through the last 20+ years of social justice 101.
@maxkatz515 I've never seen someone who is so good on one thing (Coates on US racism) and so laughably bad on everything else. It's truly sad.
PS if Obama had been able to push Garland through, Coates would now be using as evidence of the (((Zionist))) Supreme Court.
@upperleftwino@magi_jay The tell is that these people never can mention a specific action or policy advocated by AIPAC. Much like ACORN became a meaningless stand-in for supposed Black corruption, AIPAC just symbolizes the evil of Jews.
@JustJoshinNH@estherzelda0514 My therapist: Do you wish you knew your Grandparents better?
Me: You mean the guy who would literally scream and holler about how N-words, Immigrants, Gays and Jews were ruining the country...no thanks.
Especially when your parents/grand-parents are all narcissists/bigots who would never actually listen to your perspective that counters their bullshit worldviews (ask me how I know...)
Outside this being insanely stupid, sexist, and none of your business, what grandparents actually get to know and be known as complete adults by their descendants?
I was so wildly self-involved in my early 20s, like most people my age, that, despite most of my grandparents being alive until my 30s, I knew almost nothing about them as people outside of what my parents told me. They also knew quite little of me as well, by virtue of being adults with their own hobbies and friends, completely separate from my own.
I don't think this is uncommon. Most people generally aren't close to other adults in their families if there's more than 40 years between them by virtue of having almost nothing in common.
@estherzelda0514 Especially when your parents/grand-parents are all narcissists/bigots who would never actually listen to your perspective that counters their bullshit worldviews (ask me how I know...)
@daniela__127 Normie/Establishment Dems are really the only goddamn adults in the room willing to face reality and try to manage it for the optimal results. They don't claim to have some magical solution to crime, immigration etc. They actually treat voters like we aren't completely naive.
@daniela__127 The only difference is the slant of their nonsense.
โข Cons fantasize about locking everybody up and blame Black People, Immigrants, Women, LGBTQ for all evils.
โข Progs fantasize about locking NOBODY up (equally stupid) and blame (((Zionists))) & Black Dems for everything.
If Ireland were under constant attack from its' neighbors I would expect Irish-Americans to support PAC's to try to keep their Irish relatives safe. This really shouldn't be controversial.
It's really not crazy that despite being very anti-Likud, critical of Bibi etc., American Jews still support AIPAC & want the US to provide Iron Dome protection for their family members living in Israel under constant bombardment from Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis etc.
