@GeekGoji "However, such cannot be said for me. I had always mettled with their lives, sometimes too much I must admit... It was not easy to step back when everything tends to fall apart as soon as I do."
"And even now, I still I fear that our stability is all but transient."2/2
@GeekGoji After a brief moment, Byakko abruptly made a sound that has no equivalent in the human language, it's halfway between a wolf chuffing and a glacier collapsing on itself.
"For someone older than most, your positivity is remarkable, yet tired all the same, quite a dichotomy."1/2
@GeekGoji "I see that you, too, have many young ones to look after." She expressed "Our circumstances may differ I feel, however, such devotion can only be respected."
"I fear sometimes that my children would be lost without me, can you say the same?" 2/2
@GeekGoji Byakko hurriedly aborts the motion to bring out some shady adoption papers that needs to be signed in blood.
"Ah-erm, yes I see! That is quite a shame indeed."
This is perhaps the first time she appears startled, faking a few thunderous coughs to center herself. 1/2
@GeekGoji A thought then occurred to her, a greatly amusing one that shook her with subdued laughter.
"Such is how I found my first daughter, how humorous."
A hum
"I don't suppose you're looking to be adopted? I prefer daughters, but I can make exceptions." she offers half-jokingly 2/2
@GeekGoji The fox taps her chin contemplatively with her one wickedly long claw, an oddly human gesture
"Suppose it would be 'A little from Column A, little from Column B' as the youngsters would put it." She answered "Fate seems to ordain that I always follow the scent of blood." 1/2
@GeekGoji In a deliberate gesture, Byakko made to sit, making herself less imposing.
"I am a friend of humanity, and I would like to be your friend."
However, the blood on the ground immediately seeps into her white fur, staining it a foreboding crimson. 2/2
@GeekGoji Byakko seemed to preen at this, like it's something she's been expecting. It's an odd sight on something as large as her.
"They called me by many names. Inari, Su Da Ji, Tamamo-no-Mae, sometimes a god, many times a demon. You however may call me Lady Hundred-Tail Byakko."1/2
@GeekGoji "I always wondered what could've been, had we not been at odds. I would have liked to talk over some fine wine."
"What shall you be, then, one who is neither mortal or immortal, angel nor demon.
She tilts her head at a 90° angle, like a reptile.
An enemy, or a friend?"2/2
@GeekGoji Were it be possible, the white fox's smile stretched further up her face, nearly splitting it in half.
"My my, it's been quite a few generation since I heard a claim so bold. Last time, they and I tried to rip each other apart."
As if recalling a fond memory, she chuckled. 1/2
@GeekGoji She then laughs, all hints of morose gone. It was no less unsettling had she simply remained silent
"Pardon my jest, it's not often that I can talk to a mortal without them fleeing"
"Then again... You are not quite mortal yourself now, are you? What are you, old little one?"2/2
@GeekGoji Byakko attempts a sigh, the sound coming off like howling winds raking through a desolate summit.
"So it is, so it is... Dying meaninglessly seems to be the one thing mortal beings do most of all, especially people."1/2
@GeekGoji Despite her seemingly mournful words, however, it was clear Byakko felt no grief. Though apparently, her regrets seems the most of all genuine.
Whereas others see a mountain of corpses, the great fox sees wasted opportunities. As for what, one cannot tell.
2/2
@GeekGoji Her many fanged maw curled into what one may call a dreadful immitation of a smile, bereft of humor
"Ah, but therein lies their plight, no? To kill and die merely on volition, even though they had but one life. Their bravery would be admirable, were it not so... frivolous"

@Berlography@NoizuBee Imagine if Niddhögg is actually completely unrelated to Ragnarok and he's just a creature that exists.
Eat roots, sleep, become mature, fly to the highest place available and SCREAM for the world to hear then mate and wither to dust. Rinse and repeat.
@Berlography@NoizuBee Y'know, I kinda vibe with the idea that Niddhögg metamorphosize like an insect and he simply reached maturity after Ragnarok.
Could explain why he gnaws on the root of the World Tree, similar to a cicada.
