🇵🇸🇦🇺La activista australiana Gemma O’Toole, de 23 años y una de las 11 australianas que viajaban en la Global Sumud Flotilla, dejó este mensaje a su madre tras ser liberada de un centro de detención israelí.

“Mamá, estoy bien. Me liberaron.
Nos trataron horriblemente… Nos inyectaron sustancias desconocidas con jeringas.
Nos golpearon, nos humillaron y nos sometieron a torturas.
Pero estoy viva y voy a seguir contando lo que vi.”

Gemma fue secuestrada en aguas internacionales junto a cientos de activistas que intentaban llevar ayuda humanitaria a Gaza.

Es la primera de las activistas australianas en regresar a Melbourne.

Sus denuncias se suman a las de otras compañeras: abusos físicos, agresiones sexuales y tratos inhumanos por parte de las fuerzas israelíes.

We are outraged by the normalization of these violations of international maritime law and the kidnapping of peaceful civilians in international waters. We demand the immediate release of our participants, the safe passage of our entire fleet, and an end to the illegal siege of Gaza.

Our boats were targeted and destroyed, and their crews kidnapped. These tactics are not new, but are part of israel’s ongoing practice of dispossession and destruction.

Each vessel carries the name of a Palestinian village destroyed during the Nakba, when zionist forces forcibly expelled residents from their homes. israel was established through the violent occupation of Palestinian land and destruction of Palestinian life.

One of these villages was Safsaf. Once destroyed, its people displaced, its story endures. Now, even its name, carried across the water, has come under attack.

This is not coincidence. The destruction of our boats and the abduction of our participants is merely a continuation of israel's ongoing violent colonial project.

They tried to erase these villages. They are trying to silence their stories. But the stories remain, and so does the resistance…

We know the occupier wants to stop us and deter solidarity with the Palestinian liberation movement.

Last week they violently intercepted, abducted, kidnapped and brutalized us in European waters, and they are still holding Saif and Thiago hostages.
