One of the real problem with the ones in Roa is they are required to actually be able to function in our current time essentially. So the hydraulics and that are quite an issue. It also needs to look like it could move. I really liked the mecha animation in Witch of Mercury for example it had that nice weighty feeling of actual movement. That's the sort of mechs I like and want to capture.

@PrimeStarManga Yeah they can be. Generally you start with a base of what you want and build off it. Concept art should be relatively sketchy reflecting that maybe you've noticed that on mecha concept art lots of extra lines all over it? Mines are like that too.

Yui final design and early concepts the biggest noticeable changes on the second one is that Yui really doesn't smile much and she's not an operator so she doesn't need a headset. #conceptart
