Awesome perspective piece on meaningfully measuring the impact of EHR optimization programs from 3 great Clinical Informatics Leaders @informaticsDoc@DrLindsayS@pedshospdoc https://t.co/IOKDBDih2O
Love this article (https://t.co/zJ7pAHamtf) that defines EHR-burden time metrics! Hopefully the EHR vendors can use them in response to @jdhron and my call to action (https://t.co/W855hGFl9S)!
Really nice article - I have tried to validate vendor metrics of time in EHR against my personal use for a week, and they were way off. @adziorny and @markmaiwords - can we use audit logs to do a better job of this?
#EHR vendor estimates of user time depend on proprietary algorithms and don't permit useful comparison, either within or between organizations. @informaticsDoc and @jdhron explore the challenges of interpreting and using these data. https://t.co/ZHeQnv3IWb

It’s Camp Week at @ChildrensPhila! This has always been one of my favorite weeks of the year at the hospital-I love how everyone (patients and staff) get into the spirit. Plus the decorations are super fun!
Our Dr. Joel Fein will be representing @ChildrensPhila on the Scientific Advisory Committee for the @NJGVRC@RutgersU. NJ joins several states that are prioritizing #gunviolenceresearch in the absence of federal funding: https://t.co/NBfbDd4GNL
@subhaairan@EricShelov@origamidoc#toogoodtobetrue indeed! I share your enthusiasm, but am more pessimistic about our ability for the win-win scenario. Internally, we struggle with melding good design practices with workflow and admin constraints. Might be too much of an ask for this to happen on a larger stage.
“Although EHR design often bears the brunt of the blame for frustrations expressed by physicians, the EHR user experience is influenced by...decisions made by entities other than the developers and end users, such as regulators, policymakers, and administrators.”
Clickbaity articles about docs being tethered to the EHR, like this one, are not part of the solution. While there are some nice parts of the piece from Judy Faulkner and Larry Garber on ways to improve, the title, opening, and closing were all "woe is me" https://t.co/UAPohf7TdK
My favorite is:
C-Level manager: Can you distill this extraordinarily complex project into a single number that I can put on my dashboard?
Me: But it’s too complex to roll up into one...
C-Level: Thanks!
What is the most head banging question posed to you? Mine ->
C-Level Mgr: Can you build us a dashboard, it will really help us.
Me: Sure, first, what questions are you trying to answer & where is the data.
C Mgr: If I knew that I would not need the dashboard.
Me: #aneurysm
Even though more rural Americans have health coverage than a decade ago, a new @NPRHealth poll finds 26% haven’t been able to get care when they needed it recently. Poll with @RWJF@HarvardChanSPH. #LifeinRural
