I have mixed feelings about the meme's saying. It could be true in context.

Jesus is the Light. John 1:4-5 says, "In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."

Walking in Jesus' light helps us overcome darkness that is within and without-- by His strength, not ours, as the meme suggests.

Jesus says, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" (John 8:12).

Following Jesus brings victory over darkness.
