Gaza City never stops suffering one catastrophe after another. More than 4,000 cancer patients are now facing death after cancer treatment was brought to a complete halt. Among them is my cousin.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Health announced that cancer treatment has completely stopped. Can you imagine what that means? We are facing a real humanitarian catastrophe. Every day, cancer patients die. Every day, we lose friends and relatives because cancer medications are no longer entering Gaza.

My cousin died a few months ago because he could not receive the treatment he desperately needed. He was also denied permission to travel for medical care. He didn’t die because there was no treatment for his illness he died because he was denied access to it.

What law, what religion, or what moral principle allows people to be deprived of their right to medical treatment? How can medicine be used as a tool of pressure while children and elderly people wait for treatment that could save their lives?

Gaza today is a completely devastated city. Its people live among rubble and tents, while patients are denied treatment and even the right to travel for medical care.

Please write, speak out, and share what is happening. Do not let this become normal. Life should never be like this, and real change is urgently needed before we lose even more lives.

Plans to build the world's first octopus factory farm have been withdrawn.

Nueva Pescanova planned to confine one million octopuses a year at a facility in the Canary Islands -- packing these solitary, territorial animals at up to fifteen per cubic meter of tank.

They then planned to kill them by submerging them in ice water -- a painful, stressful, slow death.

They pitched the farm as "sustainable" because it would "reduce pressure on fishing grounds." But it would have required catching millions of fish to feed the octopuses.

Animal advocates have stopped this. Now we need to make sure no octopus factory farm gets built anywhere else in the world.

HIDDEN CAMERA UNCOVERS A CULTURE OF CRUELTY

A nurse tried to stop a nightmare. His own regulator sent him two auto-replies instead.

Terry Bryan started work at Winterbourne View care home near Bristol in August 2010. Management called it an "assertive" service.

What he found was staff teasing, threatening and ignoring people with severe learning disabilities like they weren't even in the room. He refused to help pin one patient down. Staff called him a "do-gooder" after that and kept their distance.

So he did what you'd expect. He told the manager. Nothing happened. He told the manager above that manager. She booked a meeting for a day he couldn't make, then never rebooked it. He was told the safeguarding team already knew. They never contacted him once.

Next he went through his union to the people whose actual job this is, the @CareQualityComm. He filled in their online form himself. He wrote the words "I have seen abuse at Winterbourne View." Over the next two months he got two automated emails back. No visit. No call. No investigation. Just a reference number and silence.

At that point Bryan gave up on the system and rang the @BBC.

On 31 May 2011, Panorama @BBCPanorama broadcast "Undercover Care: The Abuse Exposed." A hidden camera showed staff pinning residents to the floor, slapping them, soaking them in cold water fully clothed, pouring mouthwash into their eyes, trapping them under chairs while everyone laughed.

One worker asked a terrified patient if he wanted his face grated off with a cheese grater. Another patient had once tried to climb out of a second floor window. Staff joked about it for months afterwards.

When someone finally asked the CQC why they sat on eight months of written warnings, their answer was that it had been a "misjudgement." One word for ignoring disabled adults getting tortured on their watch.

Eleven staff eventually admitted 38 charges of neglect and abuse in court. Six went to prison. The ringleader got two years. Two more got 20 months each.

The rest walked out with suspended sentences, which means no jail time at all. The judge called it a "culture of cruelty." Even that feels generous.

The home was shut down. The company running it apologised. All 11 were banned from ever working with vulnerable people again.

None of this comes out without one nurse who wouldn't let it go, and a TV crew willing to do what the regulator was paid to do and didn't.

You'll see this exact shape again and again in this series. Someone raises the alarm the right way. The organisation built to respond does as little as it can get away with. It takes a hidden camera to make them move.
