On the day SpaceX went public in the largest IPO in American history — valuing the company at $1.77 trillion and making Elon Musk the world’s first trillionaire — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went on Instagram Live to deliver her verdict on the man who built it:

Fox Business brought on Vincent Peters, a SpaceX employee who had spent his career actually building what AOC was busy dismissing. Asked directly about her comments, he chose his words with an engineer’s precision:

That is the backdrop against which AOC called him unintelligent.

What the IPO actually represents: SpaceX priced at approximately $135 per share, raised roughly $75 billion, and reached a valuation of $1.77 trillion — more than the GDP of most countries. The company that launched reusable rockets, resupplied the International Space Station, and is building the infrastructure for a multi-planetary civilization went public.
