After losing his father to Parkinson's, one researcher set out to push AI beyond search and recommendations. Today, he's helping build AI that supports medical research and accelerates the search for treatments. https://t.co/nKZnMykXE4
Rather than merely accepting his fate, one man is using AI technology and genomics to help lead a $400 million effort to find targeted treatments for brain diseases. Read more about how he’s helping to find a cure: https://t.co/pScukLr07M
“One size fits all doesn't work.”
Every startup is different, and requires different regulations depending on its structure and needs. Policymakers need to look at how proposals can impact every role from developers to deployers.
AI's future may be faster and more energy efficient.💡
Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania, including @ZhiHuangPhD, are finding new ways to use less energy to deliver AI computations.
Lower costs. Greater efficiency. More innovation.

“Scale is everything.”
Proof of concept is the fastest driver of success, but what happens when regulations are uncertain? Innovation moves fast. Regulations don't always keep pace. For startups looking to scale, navigating inconsistent rules can be one of the most difficult barriers to success.
Last week, AIN brought Little Tech voices to the forefront at @axios AI+NY, getting a group of industry leaders together for a roundtable on the unique needs and challenges for startups. Read more about the discussion and how startups can compete and thrive across the U.S. https://t.co/6u2zlJJTz2
Startups face a unique challenge: build something transformative while navigating a patchwork of regulations and competing against established big-tech players. Entrepreneurs should focus on innovating, scaling, and creating jobs, not spending valuable time navigating a maze of conflicting rules.
🚀 This is AI at its best: solving real-world problems and improving lives. Researchers at MD Anderson Cancer Center are using AI to help develop new antibiotics that can fight dangerous drug-resistant infections and gain a better understanding of how the immune system responds to cancer. These discoveries could lead to more effective treatments and better outcomes for patients. https://t.co/PMfL0Mep5B
Axios AI + NY brings together leaders from across the startup and tech ecosystem to discuss the future of Little Tech, AI, and innovation. We’re proud to sponsor this event and elevate builders shaping the next wave of U.S. technology leadership.
Today we’re live at the annual #AxiosAISummit in NYC starting at 2:00pm ET.
Today's conversations feature leaders from government, tech, media and beyond exploring what's next in AI.
See the agenda below and follow this thread for speaker spotlights.

AI isn't just for Fortune 500 companies. According to the WSJ, small businesses are using AI to manage supply chains, automate production planning, and scale operations at a fraction of the old enterprise cost.
The most interesting shift? AI is becoming operational infrastructure for Main Street, not just a productivity tool for tech companies: https://t.co/Kqv6U4w9kc
AI regulation should be built on clear standards, not costly audit mandates that come first and define the rules later. Illinois should study what a real audit framework looks like, set the standards, and mandate the audit last.
Illinois’ newest AI bill goes too far. Under the guise of creating “safe guardrails,” lawmakers are imposing costly, undefined audit requirements that Big Tech can easily absorb but Little Tech can’t afford. They’re forcing innovators and entrepreneurs out of the state.
Illinois lawmakers are moving ahead with an AI audit mandate before establishing what those audits should actually measure. Big Tech can absorb that kind of cost. Startups, smaller developers, and the businesses that rely on them cannot.
Most conversations about AI focus on what’s next. “AI Saved Me” focuses on what’s already happening, with real stories from people using AI to solve everyday problems, communicate, learn, and get through hard situations:
