Golems also come to mind from some stories the "flesh" of the golem is mud or clay and a core keeps it shape

To cap this rant off, this AI company will fail, because you cannot logic through what is fundamentally illogical, and blaming 'wokeism' is just a coping mechanism, after all baldur's gate 3 is gay AF if you want it, and look how that did, games fail when they suck that's it

Games haven't gotten worse, just the ratio of great games, and their half baked clones, has changed, the bigger a company gets the less in touch they get with their target audience, the less they understand what makes game FUN, the more they drown creativity and expression

survivorship bias makes everything older look better than current day, because anything that survived from then to now stood the test of time, and anything that didn't died off for a reason, one day someone will look at BG3 and go 'they don't make 'em like they use to!'

The same is happening with big game companies, they have a bunch of checkboxes all ticked, it's the latest genre craze, it has ultra graphics, and so on. And yet we find them soulless and unfun, because lacked expression and creativity, and herein lies the problem

To expand on that, games can be equated to sale of cars, trust me here it'll make sense in a bit, now if you ask anyone what they are looking for in a car they will give a list of factor, reliability, economical, comfortable, and so on

games are about expression and creativity, and there tons of games that come out every year that still have that aspect, that spark of life and wonder, they get overshadowed by the majority of game companies trying to use logical reasoning in a wholly illogical ecosystem

In reality, the old games had mostly the same problems (granted, some are new problems, like abusive micro transactions)
Games aren't anymore 'woke' than before, they are just being a little less subtle about it and bringing it more forward into the spotlight more often
