The Justice, Development and Peace Makers’ Centre (@jdpmcosogbo1), Òṣogbo, today convened a media chat to present its pre-election findings ahead of the 2026 Ọ̀ṣun Governorship Election. The findings were generated through the JDPMC Election Vigilance Dashboard (JEVID 2026), a digital election monitoring platform that tracked and documented electoral developments across the State between 1st May and 10th August, 2026.
The event brought together journalists and civil society stakeholders to review emerging trends and assess the state's preparedness for the forthcoming poll. During the briefing, JDPMC highlighted key observations from the monitoring period, including issues relating to political activities, voter education, security concerns, and compliance with electoral guidelines.
The organisation stressed the importance of peaceful conduct by all stakeholders and urged political parties, candidates, supporters, security agencies, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain committed to a credible, free, fair, and violence-free electoral process.
JDPMC also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting democratic accountability through data-driven election observation and citizen engagement.

Theme: Securing Democracy, Empowering Police Personnel for Credible Elections in Osun State
The two-day capacity-building workshop on election security management is currently holding at His Grace Hall, Osogbo, today Tuesday 11th August and Wednesday 12th August 2026.
Facilitated by GTA Consulting, the workshop is strengthening the capacity of police personnel with emphasis on professionalism, discipline, human rights, effective communication, conflict prevention, lawful engagement and the protection of electoral integrity.
Our officers are guardians of the electoral process — not participants in it. We remain committed to being professional, impartial, disciplined and responsive; protecting voters, electoral personnel and materials, and working effectively with other security agencies and stakeholders.
GTA Consulting is proud to support the Nigeria Police Force in this important assignment. Strengthening the capacity of our officers is an investment in peaceful elections, public confidence and democracy.
Secure the people. Protect the process. Respect the law. Let the people freely choose their leaders.

PRESS RELEASE
CULT CLASH: THREE PERSONS REPORTEDLY KILLED IN ILESA AS POLICE DEPLOY TACTICAL OPERATIVES
The Osun State Police Command wishes to inform members of the public that there was a reported cult-related clash between suspected members of the Aiye and Eiye confraternities in the Imo area of Ilesa, Osun State, at about 8:00 p.m. today, 10th August 2026.
Following the incident, three persons, identified as Idowu, Yinka and Eja, all yet to be properly identified were reportedly shot dead.
Upon receipt of the information, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election, CP Samuel Erale Etaifo, psc, mnips, immediately directed the deployment of operatives of the Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU) to the area to prevent further escalation, apprehend those responsible and restore calm.
Four expended cartridges and two Android mobile phones were recovered from the scene, while preliminary investigations have commenced. The Command is also working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify all persons connected with the clash.
The CP Election has directed the VCRU operatives and other tactical teams to intensify patrols, surveillance and intelligence-led operations within Ilesa and adjoining areas, particularly around identified flashpoints, to forestall any reprisal attack.
The Command therefore warns members of rival cult groups and other criminal elements against taking advantage of the incident to cause further violence. Any person found engaging in cult-related violence, reprisal attacks, unlawful possession of firearms or other criminal activities will be arrested and made to face the full weight of the law.
The Command appeals to residents of Ilesa to remain calm and law-abiding, avoid spreading unverified information, and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the Police.
The investigation is ongoing, and further developments will be communicated to the public.
