The much-talked-about "Glass Skywalk" planned for Tiger and Lions Point in Lonavala's Kurwande area has cleared another key administrative hurdle, with the tender for the project now finalised. Being developed on a public-private partnership basis under the district's "Pilgrim and Tourist Spot Eco-development" scheme, the skywalk will be a 125-metre-long glass bridge with a 23-metre cantilever section offering sweeping views of the surrounding hills.
The decision came from a tender scrutiny committee meeting held on August 20 at the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority's headquarters in Akurdi, attended by senior officials including Metropolitan Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhary. Beyond the glass bridge, the project will also include entrance structures, viewing galleries, a restaurant, parking facilities and area beautification, aiming to give Lonavala's tourism a major boost.
