Troops Overrun Terrorist Hideout in Sambisa Forest

A joint operation between troops of Operation Hadin Kai and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) was conducted in the Sambisa Forest today, 15 May 2025, between 6am and 12pm. The aggressive patrol and clearance operation targeted terrorist strongholds in Garin Malam Ali, Garin Glucose and Ukuba.

The troops successfully invaded the strongholds, forcing the insurgents to flee and abandon their arms and ammunition. Recovered items include various weapons and IED-making equipment. The exploitation of the Sambisa Forest is ongoing.

President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of a national forest guard system and ordered the recruitment of over 130,000 armed operatives to secure the country’s 1,129 forest reserves.

- Each state to recruit between 2,000 and 5,000 heavily armed and well-trained forest guards, depending on its financial capacity.

- The recruitment and training will be supervised by the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Ministry of Environment.

- Security agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders will be involved in the processes.

Note: At least 11 states have operationalised forest guards, also known as forest rangers or forest security, but the plan is to arm and upscale the guards for national security efforts.

FOREST GUARDS ESTABLISHED BY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

President Tinubu has approved the establishment of forest guards and comencement of their employment to secure the 1,129 forests in the country. The President directed that the forest guards are to be well trained and armed to perform their duties, which is essentially to flush out terrorists and criminal gangs hiding inside the forests for criminal activities. This recruitment is a security collaborative effort between the federal and state governments.

The office of the NSA and the Ministry of Environment have been directed to take charge and ensure full implementation.

Thousands of young Nigerians are expected to be employed as personnel of the outfit.
President Tinubu had warned terrorists that his administration would not surrender an inch of the country’s territory to terrorists, bandits, and other criminal gangs operating inside the forests. President Tinubu vowed that the country would take back its forests

This is 72 hours after IPOB declared a total lockdown of the Southeast on May 30 in honour of the defunct rebel Republic of Biafra. An act which jeopardises the WAEC examination process in the Southeast scheduled for the same day. And Peter Obi has said absolutely nothing.

This is the same Peter Obi who spoke on the same day when the fake news spread that JAMB was holding exams at 6:30 AM. The same Obi talked immediately about the phoney news that Lagos was destroying Landmark Beach Resort because it is owned by an Igbo man. The same fellow who condemned President Tinubu on the same day there were stampede deaths in Ibadan. The same individual who jumped to condemn Sokoto and the North after Deborah Samuels was burnt to death.

But now that the issue is occurring in Igboland, Peter Obi suddenly lost his voice.

It is his regular trademark. If it occurs in the Southeast, Peter Obi will chop and clean his mouth. But if it occurs in the North or Southwest, Obi will dance naked in public.
