Funny: The Protection of Sovereignty Bill - Uganda https://t.co/Ce0p6Xdzqs via @YouTube
"A Modest Proposal" by Jonathan Swift comes close to the feeling one gets while watching this video!
We encourage the Bill's mover to learn that real leaders LESSEN (not INCREASE) burdens.
"Chairman, a country without reserves is not sovereign. The potential of this Bill to destabilize Uganda’s balance of payments is our primary concern as a central bank. For example, last financial year the overall balance of payment surplus was USD 1.5 billion. That’s how we were able to increase our reserve coverage by USD 1.5 billion. Today as we speak our reserves are close to USD 6 billion. Why? Because these inflows have been coming in. The moment you tamper with these inflows here, we risk running down our reserves, and that is economic disaster for a country.” Governor Atingi-Ego on the Protection of Sovereignty Bill 2026 in an appearance before Parliament today.

@SamuelBakutana #3:
- Leadership may sometimes feel unfair, but it underscores the truth that leaders are held accountable for outcomes.
- To lead is to accept the invitation to higher ground — responsibility, accountability, and transformation.
@SamuelBakutana #2: The Lesson is Clear:
- When performance falters, it is rarely the entire team that is replaced — it is the leader who is changed.
- As John C. Maxwell reminds us: “Everything rises and falls on leadership.”
@SamuelBakutana #1: With the club sitting sixth in the Premier League, leadership felt compelled to act, appointing Darren Fletcher as interim manager to drive the team forward.
Whenever a team isn't doing well, rarely is the team changed. The coach is changed.
Lesson: "Everything rises & falls on leadership." - John C. Maxwell.
This might sound unfair to leaders but it's a reminder that leadership is an invitation to higher ground.
