IMI is pleased to support the research of Sander Kneepkens, an ophthalmology registrar and PhD candidate at Erasmus MC, whose doctoral thesis, "Turning myopia inside out: A thorough examination of eye growth, behaviour, and risk," will be defended on 10 June 2026.
Findings highlight a dramatic increase in myopia prevalence in Europe over the past century, driven by excessive axial eye growth and shaped by education, reduced time outdoors, and increased screen use.
This expansion reflects the IMI's ongoing commitment to global collaboration and equitable knowledge sharing across the international myopia community.
