In contradicting my academic self, I long realized there is no such thing as “evidence-based medicine”. There is only good medicine. Good medicine should be rational, based on probabilities taken from, of course, evidence.

Shockwave therapy for ED is bound to become mainstream and first line treatment together with PDE-5 inhibitors and lifestyle counselling. It is not a miracle treatment and not a cure - it promotes healing. Periodic repetition would probably make sense. https://t.co/eoibVvLvVi

@DanielSokol9 @jonathanives4 @janewilliams141@MoorgateA@LondonAndrofill@MYA_Tweet@Cosmetech @AndrologySoc @RCPLondon It was very telling in the BBC interviews that the two "established" doctors claimed that all men seeking this treatment require psychological counselling. Some men do and others don't.
@DanielSokol9 @jonathanives4 @janewilliams141@MoorgateA@LondonAndrofill@MYA_Tweet@Cosmetech @AndrologySoc @RCPLondon Established doctors WHO do not have experience with patients seeking penis enlargement. Easy thing to critisize tbh because the (wrong in our opinion) prevalent view is that all men seeking this are unserious/vulnerable and the treatments don't work.
@jonathanives4 @janewilliams141 @DanielSokol9 @MoorgateA@LondonAndrofill@MYA_Tweet@Cosmetech @AndrologySoc @RCPLondon Absolutely and this is a problem. There is a bifurcation of approaches atm; "established" urologists/doctors dismiss the issue as laughable without having experience with patients to win browny points; some clinics take the issue lightly and fast to the trigger.
@janewilliams141 @DanielSokol9 @jonathanives4 @MoorgateA@LondonAndrofill@MYA_Tweet@Cosmetech @AndrologySoc @RCPLondon Also on why men seek these treatments more and more: https://t.co/0RC9VGAUZv demand will not ago away! Medical community needs to take the issue seriously rather than just dismiss it as laughable, which is current approach of most doctors.
@janewilliams141 @DanielSokol9 @jonathanives4 @MoorgateA@LondonAndrofill@MYA_Tweet@Cosmetech @AndrologySoc @RCPLondon Interesting take. We think penis size anxiety/dissatisfaction should be approached seriously. Surgery or treatment has a role to play as has counselling. Dismissing patients concerns outright or branding them body dismorphic will not help them.

@LuxAlptraum Having said that ED meds are not a panache and men facing ED should consult a Dr as it might be a symptom of serious underlying health issues.
@LuxAlptraum Strongly disagree with some of the assertions in the article. ED is not a normal part of ageing. ED meds don't just give you an erection without mental stimulation and "feeling". ED meds also have quite a few positive health benefits beyond treating ED.
