Kevin Nguyen is a Respiratory Therapist at Intermountain Health Medical Center.
As Kevin made a routine check on one of his patients, something he’s done countless times, what he found was anything but routine. The patient had a gun.
Without hesitation, Kevin stepped in and calmly, courageously intervened. His actions likely saved a life that day. What could have ended in tragedy became a moment of hope because someone cared, someone acted, and someone showed up-not just as a healthcare professional, but as a human being.
Kevin, your bravery and compassion remind us all why we do what we do. Thank you for being a true hero in and out of scrubs.

After an unexpected surgery kept Spanish Fork High senior Rylee Allsop in the hospital on graduation day, her caregivers made sure she didn’t miss out. Medical-Surgical Manager Lacey Miller decided there was no reason Rylee shouldn’t have a graduation. Along with hospital president Megan Johnson and executive assistants Wendy Perkins and Paige Mayer, they went about arranging a graduation for Rylee at the hospital. Family, friends, and caregivers gathered in a decorated classroom, where Rylee was wheeled in to cheers and tears. Her principal presented her with her diploma, and she even received a special “commemorative” hospital diploma. While she didn’t walk with her class, Rylee left with a memorable graduation. 👩🎓🫶
