Week one Film Boot Camp summary:
- mom said no to film camp
- I made a short “film”
- I wrote a first draft of a script
- decided to add film study to my research
- mom changed her mind on film camp
- I was sick for two days
-my keyboard broke
All in all a good start
Next step is to write out a story so that my films are- you know- films. So for day three of film boot camp I will not be filming anything, and instead will be writing Log lines and treatments.
Day one of filming boot camp:
Took notes on a filming 101 lecture I saw on YouTube and one other video.
Starting on homework now:
Play with lighting: Build a softbox
Shoot shots that evoke a solemn/sad emotion
Write a Treatment for current favorite script idea
Phase three: Write and produce a short film that will be the highlight of my portfolio, using the skills and equipment I amassed in my previous phases. Ending with submitting film to competitions, putting together a professional looking protfolio and applying to film school.
Phase two: Phase one I will have practiced cinematography, lighting and written scripts. So I will jump write in to filming small 1 to 5 minute one scene shorts. This is still in my comfort zone because I have written for similar shorts. I will begin buying equipment.
Hell is real and I am in it. I was hoping to do a film camp and be able to put together a film reel that way; however when I presented the the camp I wanted to do to my mom she responded in so many words: damn didn’t know you were spoiled, we aren’t rich, wtf.
Fair enough.
Finally crew: Me, Ill recruit Elena as script manager, and Ill try and get my neighbor Jay (who does the school tv with me) to be on sound, and ask them to bring their boyfriend George for lighting. If that doesn’t pan out Ive got two brothers.
