Internews, UNESCO, KICTANet, Communication Authority hosted a 4-day workshop earlier this month in Mombasa for 50 Digital Rights stakeholders on tackling online threats, safeguarding freedom of expressions and fostering safer, inclusive digital spaces.

In addition, KenSafeSpace hosted a Policy Hackathon where 17 teams were shortlisted and pitched their innovative solutions to a panel of 3 judges. The hackathon crowned Policy Action Initiative as the winner, with Seya Youth Organization and Y+ Kenya as runners up.

This study further seeks to enhance participatory democracy by exploring both opportunities and challenges marginalised groups encounter while utilising civic technology tools and online platforms to influence governance and decision-making processes.
