This is Ho Chi Minh, the man who taught the world that no empire is invincible.
He led one of the most remarkable victories over a global superpower in modern history.

Instead, he and the North Vietnamese leadership, alongside General Võ Nguyên Giáp, embraced a strategy centered on endurance, guerrilla warfare, political organization, and the support of millions of ordinary Vietnamese.
Vast tunnel networks, surprise attacks, intimate knowledge of the terrain, and a willingness to wage a long war gradually eroded America's military and political objectives.

After the 1973 Paris Peace Accords, U.S. combat forces withdrew, and in April 1975 Saigon fell, bringing the war to an end and Vietnam under a unified government.

US evacuations from Saigon were so rushed and chaotic that helicopters continuously ferried people from rooftops to ships waiting offshore.
Some South Vietnamese pilots even landed their helicopters on U.S. aircraft carriers after fleeing with their families.
To make room for incoming aircraft, crews pushed several helicopters overboard into the sea.
The scenes of desperate evacuations and overcrowded rooftops became some of the most enduring images of the final days of America's involvement in the Vietnam War.
