Initiating a “debate” about the rights and lives of oppressed and marginalized people to prove to everyone that you’re a supremely rational impartial being focused only on The Science is, in fact, astonishingly cruel.
"I hope to god I'm wrong. I've never wanted to be more wrong in my life.... Worst case scenario... we are going to see a tsunami of cardiovascular disease over the next few decades."
#LongCOVID
@ahandvanish Second round with long covid. First was a milder version of what I’m dealing with now. Lasted 8 months. Palpitations, hugh BP spikes and crashes, unrelenting fatigue and feeling like I’ve lost 15 IQ points from the mental fog. Can barely teach at the school that got me sick twice
@JenniferNuzzo If polio or measles circulated like covid is now, the same thing would be true. Vaccines only work as well as we let them, but Americans couldn’t stop stuffing their faces at Applebee’s to let them work. It wasn’t a lie, they just underestimated how stupid and selfish you all are
@JenniferNuzzo THIS IS WHY WE CAN’T HAVE NICE THINGS. A brightly-colored post with a sassy sentence OUT RANKS A DOCTOR OF PUBLIC HEALTH as a reliable source. Why the fuck do you all think we get flu shots? A vaccine can’t get rolled out with less than 100% efficacy in your contrarian reality?
@rachelnpr@IHOP The IHOP overnight crew works really hard too. Unlike you and your colleagues they’re paid starvation wages to be other peoples literal servants. Maybe calibrate your self importance before using your enormous platform to shame-tweet exploited people.
The brain and #LongCovid

Evidence/paths -> neuroinflammation
"The science makes it increasingly clear that covid-19 turns on inflammation and alters the nervous system even when the virus itself seems to be long gone."
@MiamiHerald Hold on - let me attach myself to and LLC use that to take on massive amounts of dischargeable debt instead. Ya’ll are cool with that. It’s not going **directly** to a human first, so voila! Individual responsibility evaporates into thin air and I can be as greedy as I want. Cool
@MiamiHerald All Americans pay for all of government. This isn’t news. It’s a reflection of our values in how we distribute it. This is a minuscule fraction flowing back towards actual human beings. Ya’ll are fine taking our collective $ and privatizing it so it’s out of circulation forever.
@mehdirhasan Dysautonomia is ravaging long covid folks. HR, BP, temp, digestion, breathing, hormones - all controlled by an autonomic nervous system unable to effectively regulate those processes post-covid. I’m a 35 y/o teacher fighting like hell to keep working the job that got me sick.
@NPR Cursing is still a tempered, sanitized reaction to children being murdered while cops callously stood by doing nothing. Don’t use the well-being of children as a scapegoat for YOUR discomfort. Kids NEED to see adults get mad and passionate about protecting them from violence.
@dremilyportermd Those 50 represent way less than half the population. Many of those 7.4 million do way more than “stress” about how to afford it, they’re being exploited and are suffering. I know you know both of these points. You don’t need to sanitize your statements for others to listen.
@pronounced_ing You can use sound amplification devices to be accommodating to those whose comprehension would be impacted. Headset style mic instead of pinning to your top should do the trick. Win/win. I teach with one of those frequently and remain masked while presenting to classrooms.
@valdemings Only until 15 weeks. Anatomy scans are at 20, so now Floridians will be forced to carry fetuses incompatible with life until they begin to rot inside of you and only when the risk of sepsis and death are high enough will doctors be able to provide life-saving medical care
@pludger American conservatives are guided by one universal world view: the ‘in group’ is protected by the law but not bound to it, and the ‘out group’ is bound by the law but not protected by it. They’re the in-group, and therefore uniquely capable of exercising discretion.
