So sorry everyone, my account got hacked for a bit there and taken over. I honestly don't know why they didn't just make their own account, but whatever.
I have no idea how trashed my follows may be :( @illustr8r, at the very least, appears to have blocked me; likely due to
@singer_judy I read your "What is Neurodiversity?" page, though, and I think I'll definitely keep this in mind going forward.
(Language is not prescriptivist, but as an autist, precision is pleasing)
@singer_judy Huh. I'm actually not sure if I've been misusing the term this way. I more often use the inverse, neurotypical, so as to have a blanket term for the privileged class of this axis that is not the incredibly dodgy and weighted "normal".
@OwlcatGames How much longer until the game unlocks? Especially unsure when I can expect to start given GMT+12, and Steam is not actually showing a countdown
@SNeurotypicals I'd definitely buy isolation breaking brains though, probably not even just NT (though with wildly different thresholds). Hence, I think it likely that the issue is not the lack of small talk, but the lack of spontaneous social contact that would normally produce it.
@SNeurotypicals Even for NTs, I doubt the lack of small talk is the issue. A far as I can tell, small talk exists because NTs are constitutionally incapable of just, like... existing with another being.
Jesus Christ, @TwitterSupport. I waited *three weeks* with *zero* response over a clearly false suspension. Then I get two friends with less than 20 followers put together to tweet at you, and *now* I get my account back? What the hell?
During this time of pandemic, means of remote socialisation are more important than ever, especially for disabled people who struggle to get out and thus *already* struggled with isolation even before lockdowns hit.
@Babe_of_Swolls @AnnMemmott @kawaiihyena I mean, only if the human actually does tell you. Which NTs won't. At least animals are honest and communicative.
Animals are actually super easy to read. The only reason NTs struggle is because their brains actively filter out animals as insignificant input
@Babe_of_Swolls @AnnMemmott @kawaiihyena Because that's presupposing not just the correlation (which may not even exist because it's the researchers who have no goddamn empathy for auties), but indeed the *causation*. *And* the direction in which those correlations/causations occur
@Babe_of_Swolls @AnnMemmott @kawaiihyena It is definitely pretty fucking ridiculous.
And of course my MIL doesn't see the issue with the morning person question being on there -_- (she's visiting and was out there when I shared with hubby)
Like, no, any correlation is *irrelevant* to its inclusion in an EQ *test*
@Babe_of_Swolls @AnnMemmott @kawaiihyena And a bunch of those that do are less about genuine empathy, and more about your level of confidence with bloody telepathy.
@Babe_of_Swolls @AnnMemmott @kawaiihyena I know right? I only just now finished (27 of 80, apparently) and I was pretty fucking unimpressed with the roller coaster question too.
Like... so many of these questions have absolutely nothing to do with empathy -_-
@Babe_of_Swolls @AnnMemmott @kawaiihyena Not to mention, "9. I am at my best first thing in the morning."
Wtf does being a morning person have to do with empathy?
@justacollector@histortea@SNeurotypicals Oh, but NTs will absolutely *always* blame you for not guessing.
They'll also blame you for guessing wrong, but that at least gets other NTs too and is the cause of half their drama.
They hate it way more if you just refuse to play the mind games, though
@lone_alien I mean, I'll grant that most sheets are acceptably neutral, but when I have blankets that feel nice because blankets have a wider range to choose from, why do I want to put a barrier in between?
@lone_alien Personally, I insist that using a flat sheet at all is 100% incorrect and also crazy. Because tucked is a nightmare prison, and untucked is just a very thin blanket that does not feel nice?
