They do it for their own selfish interests and the only time you’ll benefit is when your interests and theirs converge!

KRA says it has forgone KES 9.1B in tax revenue in April and May 2026 after VAT on fuel was cut from 16% to 8% to cushion consumers from higher global fuel prices.
KRA also says the MT Paloma fuel consignment under investigation was re-shipped to other markets and did not enter Kenya, with KES 5.1B in taxes already paid by OMCs set to be transferred to subsequent fuel consignments.

KRA is a tax collection agent. They are told go and collect this and they do.
If they are told don't collect this, they have no grounds to complain.
KRA has access to private property to the extent permitted by tax laws. Not a cent more
